Ride Waiver Requirement

Since the following rides are club-sponsored events, all participants are required to sign a ride waiver in order to participate in our groups rides. Please be prepared to complete a ride waiver online (posted on this page) or before the specific ride begins.

Sunday, May 7th, @7:30 AM Start – (55 miles)

Start / End address of ride:  Roanoke Basin View

This is not the official Ironman route, however, it captures 95% of the route.

  • 55 miles / 4,600 ft climbing
  • Ride starts promptly at 7:30am
  • Estimated time, including stops:  4 hours

  • Bring adequate hydration, electrolytes, and snacks.
  • Bring a spare tube, tire levers, pump/CO2 cartridge

What to expect:

  • Lots of climbing. If you don’t regularly train in the mountains, this will be a tough ride.  Stay on top of hydration and nutrition during the ride to reduce the chances of cramping.
  • We will regroup 5 times throughout the route.  Detailed regroup points listed below.
  • We will ensure the last rider is present at every regroup point before proceeding to the next regroup point.
  • SAG support will be provided.
  • Faster riders are not expected to stay with the group and may ride at their own pace.
  • You are ultimately accountable for your own actions. Please be a respectful and responsible cyclist and consider the safety of everyone around you.

Regroup points:

  • 1st regroup:  Mile 8 – BRPW milepost 104.8, which is where we get off the parkway via a path in a field.
  • 2nd regroup:  Mile 14 – Stop sign before turning onto Rt 11
  • 3rd regroup:  Mile 28.7 – Exxon in downtown Buchanan
  • 4th regroup:  Mile 34.4 – Mills Gap Overlook on the BRPW.  This regroup is right after the major climb of the ride (43 + initial Parkway climb). (AID STATION FROM CLB/COOLER)

Saturday, May 13th , @10:00 AM Start – (56 miles)

Rider’s will have to coordinate their logistics for shuttling/carpooling/ or getting from point to point.  56 miles.

  • Rear tail light highly recommended.
  • Bring adequate hydration, electrolytes, and snacks.
  • Bring a spare tube, tire levers, pump/CO2 cartridge
  • SAG support will be provided.
  • Faster riders are not expected to stay with the group and may ride at their own pace.

Sunday, May 14th, @9:00 AM – (62 miles)

Start from River’s Edge. This route does not include the Carvin’s Cove part of the bike course. This ride is about 62 miles.

  • Rear tail light highly recommended.
  • Bring adequate hydration, electrolytes, and snacks.
  • Bring a spare tube, tire levers, pump/CO2 cartridge
  • SAG support will be provided.
  • Faster riders are not expected to stay with the group and may ride at their own pace.
  • You are ultimately accountable for your own actions. Please be a respectful and responsible cyclist and consider the safety of everyone around you.
  • Mills Gap Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This regroup is right after the major climb of the ride (43 + initial Parkway climb). (AID STATION FROM CLB/COOLER)
